LTR wins King's Award for Voluntary Service

LTR has been greatly honoured to be given the King's Award for Voluntary Service in yesterdays honours list. This is the equivalent of an MBE for charitable organisations and is a great accolade for all of our volunteers who work so hard throughout the year to help everyone to read, in Ipswich. LTR was one of 5 Suffolk charity organisations to win this award this year.

LTR Wins Major Grant from SCC

Suffolk County Council has awarded LTR a substantial grant to extend its literacy improvement work over the next 10 months. As well as developing our existing services for parents and babies, and early years settings, we will be partnering with 2 or 3 primary schools on literacy improvement plans. We are also intending to do some ground-breaking work to investigate whether Irlens syndrome is causing many children to struggle to read. Additionally, we hope to set up two contracts with University of Suffolk to develop a business case for screening pupils who are weak readers and to improve our Impact Evaluation.

SE Area Committee makes substantial grant to LTR

LTR is very grateful to the SE Area Committee of the Borough Council for giving it a grant of £4,000 to continue its work in the area. At a SEAC meeting on Wednesday 13th September, the committee was very complimentary about LTR's work over the last 7 years and recognised that its focus was entirely aligned with the committee's key priorities.
