Research
Everything we do at Let's Talk Reading is informed by research on literacy such as recent studies completed by National Literacy Trust, child development in accordance with Development Matters and local Ipswich information including the demography of Ipswich, school and ward needs as well as links with local organisations to provide specific resources for real families.
Impact
Recently LTR:
- Have completed a study, funded by Suffolk County Council, screening for Irlen Syndrome in 4 local schools and creating extensive reading programmes in 2 local schools.
- Completed another project in 2 local primary schools, also funded by Suffolk County Council, working with the schools to put in place extensive reading programmes (Raising the Bar). The results from the project were promising, with Ravenswood achieving +15 and Ranelagh achieving +13 in their SATs results (2025).
- We are embarking on a partnership with Talamo, setting up free screening in 15 primary schools for dyslexia and other cognitive barriers for all Year 4 students.
- University of Suffolk completed a Impact Report on the main work LTR focuses on annually.
